Do you think a mesh grille impacts the amount of air to the (V8) engine and robs horsepower? It seems like it might do the opposite of the RPI scoop. Just wondering.

They might to some degree....along with the fact that they rape the good looks of the E60

Along the lines of this argument I would also say a dirty car would be slower due to increased aerodynamic drag....it just seems to be of SUCH a small consequence that it is most likely immeasurable! I would guess that proper tire inflation would gain all and more of ANY power loss due to a small amount of turbulence created by a mesh grill!

Why would mesh create any more turbulence than the vertical slats in the OEM grille???

Methinks this is a retardedly easy answer: there's no friggin' way that a mesh grille will rob any power. And to prove my point, you should dyno with and without the mesh

Just remove the spare and all floor mats from the car and it would gain everything back and then some.

I've said it once I'll say it again: "Mesh grills belong on a Chrysler 300, not a BMW!"

They're still mesh. They still allow a good amount of air into the openings. The slight turbulence you receive from the air passing over would actually be straigtened out prior to the MAF anyways. So no, it won't rob any measurable amount of power.

Dyno time would cost more than the actual mod! lol
