found it. BMW M ZHP Leather Short Shift Knob 6 Speed Illuminated 1 and 3 Series New | eBay
not cheep compared to ZHP and others. seller claims it will fit all BMWs if detached from boot. Wondering if any E60 have installed it?

should fit as long as the shape of the boot is the same. or is it just the leather and you have to glue it to the ring?
the way the MT knobs attach are nearly all the same. I think they may be different on the much older bmw's..

It will fit I had it on my other e60 545i . You would have to get someone like a shop that does it cause there's two wire that has to be connected unless you know how to install it there's a video on you tube that shows how it . Good luck
