So who recommends what? I have an ACS rear bumper lip on my car. I do not want something too close to the bumper that may cause it to melt. I know one's a 3" and another is 3.5". Any sound difference or they r just identical. Shouldnt be too loud in the cabin right? I want the sound of a V8 but the quietness of a 1.5 liter 4 cyl at appropriate times. And how much did u guys get the muffler installed for?

Gabe with Precision Muffler ( http://www.precisionmuffler.com/ ) installed my 14862 yesterday afternoon for $95. He spent his time making sure that the magnaflow was level and straight and that the tips stuck out just the right amount. He is a real perfectionist. BTW, it sounds great! Not too loud, but it sure allows the "growl" to come out. Mind you, my 545i is (was) the quietest car I've ever owned, and it just seemed a shame to keep just a hot engine muffled so quietly. I just wonder how my MPG's will be affected by my enjoyment of the "loud pedal"

Couple of questions:

1. Which out of the 14816 and 14862 is louder?
2. Is one longer in size than the other?
3. Can someone post pics of the 3" tips versus the 3.5" magnaflow tips please?

I am trying to figure out which magnaflow I must get for my 550i. I have same issue, want peace when driving casual and growling sound when stepping on it...

Where did you get the muffler from, how much and is the 14816 or62 the appropriate for the v8?

many thanks!

I have magnaflow, but my vote is Meistershaft over everything, including Eisenmann. Eisenmann is a waste of money and nothing special.

Meistershaft = Eisenhaus = replica of Eisenmann race

Eisenhaus and Eisenmann were the same, but split off into different companies. It's not a replica.
