I think the 275's look too stretched for my old school eye.

I agree. When I get new tires (which unfortunately may not be long with a couple of driving schools this summer), I will try to find 285's. Would love PS2's but more than I want to spend. Good luck and let us know how they look/fit.

Installed today, love them. definitely not a harsher ride vs 18" RFT. Looks good considering factory sport suspension. Would look better with eibach or H&R springs but i am resisting the mod just for looks. Fender to tire gap similar to stock M5, maybe looks a little lower. Makes the 2008 LCI body look very nice. If they delivered the 535i sport with the 166 wheels and this tire size they would sell more cars. The 285 rears look very aggressive without rubbing with ET28 rear offset. pictures to follow. Also, should be about 10lb per corner lighter than stock.
At least you got 124's with the sport package -- my car came with 123's (which I don't even like enough to use as winter wheels).

Aftermarket springs, at least combined with quality struts, give you more than looks -- really improves the handling and the feeling of being connected to the road. I thought the OE sport suspension felt like it "floated" too much (at least compared to my previous 330i with modded suspension), but the aftermarket parts have really tightened things up...plus it looks good!

5er is correct, but given the choice I would do 285/30's if they were more available / less expensive. My 275's look a little narrow for the wheel.

I've got 285/30-19 PS2s on 166M wheels and the tires look too narrow - Definitely zero curb protection.
