166's are M wheels, made for both M5 and M6.

Offsets

M5 Front 12 Rear 28
M6 Front 12 Rear 17

The 11 mm difference on the rear M6 offsets push the wheels out a little further, giving it a wider stance look and fill the wheel well more. Some members that get the M5 offsets end up putting on spacers on the rears to get the look the M6 offsets would give you stock. Save yourself the time and money and just order the M6 offsets, IMO. When you talk to Gary just let him know you want 166 wheels for your e60 with M6 offsets. He'll take care of it (at least that's what other members have said). GL

Gene's always right!
I bought the 166's with the M5 offset and added 12mm spacers. It brings the wheel right to the fender...perfectly!! (kissing my fingers as an Italian Chef would, after sampling one of his special creations!)

Get 'em!!

I just referenced the link that was provided and spoke to Garry of RI BMW. He answered all of my questions and then some. I decided to purchase the M5 Style 166 with the M6 offset. I also needed tire pressure monitors which he beat my local dealership and saved me over $200 on those. Total price: Wheels, Tax, Monitors & UPS Shipping to North Carolina was $1933.50. Now all I have to do is get some sound advice on what size tires I need for the rear. I've read posts ranging from 285's to 275's but I don't know which set up those members had in regard to the offset. I would like to use the 285 but I'm afraid they might rub.

Can anyone out there give me some advice. Style 166 wheels with the M6 offset in the rear (which size tires should I purchase for the rear 285's or 275's)?

Thank you sir, I'm headed to the tire shop right now and place an order for 275's. I won't need the spacers since I've purchased the M6 offset. My main goal right now is to prevent the rub. I appreciate the quick response.

i got mine for ?1250 inc tyres from AS TYRES 2nd hand, but came straight off an 2007 M5 And onto mine, however 1 tyre was shagged so plus that.
But they was the Original OEM BBS M5 Wheels with 285/35 rear.

dont buy reps, get the OEM, reps buckle under wieght on hard bumps especially if you a aftermarket hardened set up?
