Is it possible? I chose non-staggered on my E46 for the rotation possibilities. Wondering if I can do the same with an E60. I am purchasing one soon and am researching parts now.

What offset do you plan on using on all fours? I bought the 166 18x8 for all around on the winter tires, but assume you might have some wheel rubbing issues if you tried to put the 18X9 on the front.

If your trying to get wider tires in the front you can usually go up two sizes on the width compared to oem. I personally would love a 18x9.5 for the rears.

I'm not even sure what offset/size they come in...... I'm still just beggining my research of this car. Just wondering if somebody had a solution to rotating tires on the E60.

straight off of an M5 the oem 166 wheels are 8.5x19 front with offset ET 12 and 9.5x19 with offset ET 28 i believe.

so in theory (humor me, i've never delt with spacers before)

if i could buy a set (4) 166 wheels 8.5x19 offset et 12 and get (2) 16mm spacers for the rear, it would work, eh?

or am i thinking backwards when it comes to the offset.

for the rear if you have an offset of ET 12, the wheel would be pushed way out too much i believe. the bigger the number of the offset, the more "pushed in" the wheel is. so ET 28 compared to ET 12, the ET 28 is way more inward. if you added a 16mm spacer to the ET 28, it would give you the offset of ET 12. for the rear wheel to be flushed with the rear fender, an offset of about ET 16 is what youre after. member vegastrashed had oem 166s on his e60 with ET 28 in the rear, then added 12mm spacers to give him the offset of ET 16. hope this helps.

I'm sorry if I'm talking in circles,

What is the F/R offest of the OEM sport package wheels for a 545i? Is it the same as the M5?

The reason I am asking so intensely is because I plan on buying a 545 this spring, but plan on watching Ebay for wheels and parts to upgrade once I get it. (Have to sell the E46 and pay off her car my other car first....wife, sheez) If I see a good deal, I want to jump on it. But I need the knowledge to do so first.

So your help and advice is GREATLY appreciated.

I just recently purchased a 2005 545i, and have been thinking about this for quite some time

My question really is, to what extent do you really rotate the tires anyhow?

My reasoning is that, I was told it serves no purpose assuming your setup is aligned properly. not on these type of cars.

I had a 95 Supra TT, which also had staggered wheels so rotation was not an option, but seemingly so the dealer then even advised that rotation wouldnt give you any much more mileage on your tires anyhow, dont know if it was true or not

Lastly, visually I think staggered wheels look better..

You know, after reading this whole thread form the start, and checking out realoem, (thanks nerweezy) I think I may just go with staggered wheels. I may start researching different styles though. I have always wanted a nice wheel with a deep lip on it, but haven't ever owned a vehicle or really seen a style I like without it looking ghetto. Like you said nyrz, how much does rotating REALLY help you.

Anyone have a lead on a deep lipped wheel that looks good on an E60?
