hello everyone. I m new to the forum... as u can prolly tell from my nick I hav a AW 550i 2006
Auto, Nav, sport, and a few other goodies.... really glad to Join this board..!!
actually I m just here wondering about the retrofit on the M5 mirrors. I did a search and actually read a few threads of ppl who successfuly did it on their cars. but most of them are from Europe. I also read a post of a member who stated that he got the Mirrors but the sockets/plugs on the M mirrors dont fit with his OEM one at all... can someone please elaborate a lil on this for me... and if any US owners who have successfully done this please give me some advise/help...any input would be much appreciated. thanks

We here I agree call the mirrors of that type 'm5 mirrors'. Here in Europe you can get it, it is available accessory for ///M pack-which is also similar to ///M5 spoliers etc, on ebay you also find the mirrors.
What I said is just they are not ///M5 mirrors but ///M (5sytle) mirros, the looks and function depending on your car's options are may be the same, but the wiring is different in our 'normal' e60 than in the real ///M Technik e60 M5 car. However whatever we call it is AWESOME

so according to you... the M-tech mirror and M5 mirrors are only designed similarly but have different wiring?? so they hav diff part #s too??

normally you get info here and just think Alpine that ///M5 cars ment to be different, not just optics like spoilers, wider fenders, but HUD with RPM, etc.
But of course BMW know that we all go crazy for making our E60 even more sporty so that is why we can have let's call it ///M mirror you can get from your BMW dealer or ebay....
SO you can have the 'same' mirrors. But not the one on the real ///M5 but the same look and normally functions if you have auto dimm folding -then you can get that one

If you're from the U.S. be careful what you order. I don't know if you can order just M-style mirrors (I think you can). I ordered oem M5 mirrors because I want the fold-up option, but U.S. spec cars do not come pre-wired to plug and play like Europe or most other countries. I had to buy the driver's side face plate that has the button to make the mirrors fold, but now I have to find someone to do special wiring in the door.
If you're from the U.S. be careful what you order. I don't know if you can order just M-style mirrors (I think you can). I ordered oem M5 mirrors because I want the fold-up option, but U.S. spec cars do not come pre-wired to plug and play like Europe or most other countries.
