I contacted my local dealer on the M5 mirrors and provided the part numbers that were listed in the other thread. Can someone confirm these numbers for me...would you need anything more or less? Are these painted or not?

Here's what he came back with:

1-2 weeks delivery for:

1 51-16-7-897-565 MIRROR 1 388.13

2 51-16-7-897-566 MIRROR 1 388.13

3 51-16-7-897-553 MIRROR GLASS 1 273.75

He was having a problem with finding another part number for the mirror glass. So that's what I've got let me know if you can share any additional info. Not sure that I'm going to do this (sure looks nice though) but thought that others could benefit from the info

I thought some people said that the M5 mirrors do not fit the E60 (although I can't think of a reason why not). Have the people who have already done the mod used the actual M5 mirrors?.....or the M mirrors from the European E60 accessories catalog?

Either way.......Here are 3 pages from the ETK parts CD that apply to the M5 mirror housings and glass. Notice that on the first page there are listings for both left hand drive and right hand drive cars. I have highlighted the left hand drive ones in yellow.

Looks like those are the primed housings with Auto/Dip, and only the left heated Auto Dip glass, but with the wide angle vertical split (like the Euro version mirrors). You can see it in the glass picture labled "1" below.

Has anyone figured out the part number for the glass? which type of glass do we use here in the states?

From the ETK pictures it looks like we use #2 or #4. But I cant be for sure. Theres too many part numbers for the glass too confusing!
