hi guys,

just need some clarification on m5 mirrors. We know, there are two sets:
1) mirrors for pre Sept 05 models
2) mirrors for post Sept 05 models

Question to the experts - what do the mirrors of lci models look like? can we just use 2) or is there a 3rd option:
3) mirrors for post march 07 models

would appreciate your help...

tnx rumman

aghhhhhh - NOPE!

you have no idea what the dealers are like here in austria - you get treated like sh!t and it is like you are begging them to sell you a car. I have not placed the order yet, and asking them to change the shifter from non-sat to sat has been a real pain. if i asked them for m5 mirrors aswell, i will get shot...

I have researched this same topic myself as I'm probably going to order M5 mirrors for my LCI this week. I know that at least two members in this board (pmmeke, italia550i) have fitted M5 mirrors to their LCI E60's. They didn't know about part numbers though when I asked.

Here you can find mirror parts for recently (June) built facelifted M5:
http://bmwfans.info/original/E60/Lim...E/L/N/2007/06/

You see that there is a note that those mirrors fit models build 2007/03-> (facelifted models). I took part numbers there and asked my dealer here in Finland to confirm if they would fit my LCI E60. They said yes, and I think that they will fit, but I wouldn't count on my dealer's "confirmation".

Here are the part numbers I'm about to order:

51168046351 M5 mirror left, primed
51168046352 M5 mirror right, primed
51167897547 M5 mirror glass left, basic, heated
51167897548 M5 mirror glass right, basic, heated

Hope this helps.

Hey Tume,

thanks a lot.

I had my laptop with me when i was at my dealer an hour ago ordering my new car and I was also online. I saw your post and ran immediately to the parts guy - he quoted me 950 EUR (incl. 20% tax) the set you asked for. However, these is the basic configuration with no eletrochromatic glasses, no foldable option, no mirror etc. if you have SA 430 (interior and ext. mirror package), you ought to be taking a set that will cost about 1600 EUR (incl tax).

so take care before you order..

best regards

Yeah I'm aware of those facts, and I'm ordering this cheapest setup since I don't have folding option in my car, and electrochromatic glasses are like 4x more expensive than standard glasses. Plus I can get these painted for cheap. I also get a refund from my dealer for new standard mirrors with high gloss trim that should've came with the car (M-sport packet), but didn't. So I get a full refund of 300€+ and I will use this amount getting these M5 mirrors (I can also sell my current ones on eBay). From your E61 pictures it looks like you got high gloss window trims and high gloss std mirrors from the factory so you don't have to pursue this.

Hi,

in fact just ordered full function M5 mirrors (with electro. glass) from Germany just 5mins ago

I have to see if I can get puddle lights and auto fold (with keyfob) to work as I don't have these options currently in my car.
I doubt reverse auto-dip will work but I have to see. Do you have manual gearbox? I do.

Hi Tume,

do you mind if I asked how much you paid for the m5 mirrors with electro glasses?

i will be having an auto tranny. the auto dip is part of the internal/external mirror package or if you have seats with memory function. that is the feature i am looking for most...

Well I don't want to start a mayhem here but I can say the total was well under 1000?. That's insane considering they are new with every option.
