not that i know of. i did it but was never able to code out the errors. the ship wont allow you to rewrite the Kombi if the VIN number doesnt match your car....but if you buy a brand new cluster with a blank Kombi its possible to code it. honestly i would just mod my old cluster like many do or live with the errors like i did....if you get one from a manual trans car it will be much easier...

Anybody know what I have to code to get it working?
Holtz,

Where you able to recode as per suggested by Brian? Curious if that worked. It would be hard for me to live without my cruise control function.

Also do you have fog lamps on your car? If so, does the new cluster show that the fog lamps are lit by lighting/displaying fog lamp led on the cluster? The M5 doesn't have fog lamps so I'm wondering if the M5 cluster includes an led for the fog lamps.

Post pics of your new setup. Would love to see it...

Thanks,
Mars

Great! Look forward to finding out if you can recode to fix the cruise...

andy this really amazing.
If I change the vin # only in used cluster will fix the service record on the Idrive or I have to clear the data from the cluster chip first.

I have the M5 Cluster in my 2008 535xi.

M5 Cluster Video

I reprogrammed the EEPROM with my VIN to get rid of the Tamper light and only then could I re-code it with NCSExpert.

The gears, sport button, oil temp all seem correct. The RPM rev limiter seems high where the red limit is but the other colors seem to match. I'll look into that some more.

And... my Cruise Control is not working either. I will also continue to sort that out.

Bonus look at my M5 HUD working:

Couple more pics

The pic of the M5 HUD is when the engine was cold so the scale seems OK. When hot the yellow band is just past mid way. Leaves a lot of red but the scale is very usable.

I did some more checking on the Oil Temp and RPM display. Compared to reading canbus values for temp and RPM and the displays seems to match up perfectly.

I also tried to recode KOMBI again. The default was ACC_AUSSTATTUNG set to not active even after I coded for $544. I manually changed it to fgr_aktiv. Cruise Control still doesn't work and now I get an actual Cruise Control malfunction warning (before I got no errors - just cruise control did not work)

My stop&go cruise control stop working for me after a accident, but the funny shit is that after i got the car back from the shop it was working and after a few weeks it stop functioning.
