Another question: reinstalling my factory instrument cluster my stupid dealer cannot reprogram the car.
Does anyone have experience of new program with M5 cluster?
I have to change dealership, this is the point. But if anyone has experience I will have certain info for next dealer.

question to you: has your car data been updated at bmw munich with the new m5 cluster? depending on the configuration, you get the appropriate software update. if your m5 cluster is not registered at bmw munich, the software update will assume that you have the normal cluster, and will need the respective software.

i remember reading somewhere, software udpates on the m5 cluster was done by putting back the old cluster.

i hope i am not giving you bad news again..

Munich?
Is it an official mod? I don't think.. Can you get it with individual program as for side mirrors?
I simply encoded the car by the dealer, starting the coding with my cluster on and when the system asked for a confirmation we swapped the cluster than confirmed.

Here, by Andy545. But I'm wondering if it is sure or not, if someone did it and can post his experience or not yet.
Because I don't trust my dealer so much. If true, it would means my car isn't updatable anymore.

It has to be an offical mod because the m5 cluster has a microcontroller that requires a difference firmware than the firmware you have in a microcontroller of a standard cluster.

alone the fact that you swapped the clusters means that the official firmware that comes from munich assumes you have a standard cluster..

Rsyed, the point is: did anyone with the M5 cluster do a reprogramming or not yet?
The M5 cluster cannot be an official feature, it's impossible: it has the M on it an 9k rpm.

I know it is old thread but I need help for M5 cluster that I am interested to buy from http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=81676
Before I purchase it I went to the dealer and they said it is not possible (they laughed) also quoted me if you want it, the fee is $700 (Euros 500) and it may damage the car. Are they ripping me off?

I know it is likely 5 mins work.

does it not matter used or new to code?
