I got your pm and the hint to convert the SMG to AUTO transmission is to change the HEX code: 86 86 (SMG) => 4E 4E (Auto) in the block memory 3003 of the kombi

u also have a star next to the mileage. U also need to clear that out since that means u "tried" to tamper the miles.

??? no i bought the cluster used and have no knowledge of how to even go about coding clusters and such maybe the person before me ???

I think that this is great, and I really wish that I had paid more attention to computer science while I was at college.

The real test is whether or not your car's software can be updated at the dealership. Other people who have successfully changed clusters have indicated that they need to changeout the M5 cluster for updating. Since most of us won't be doing our own instrument cluster coding this will be something to be aware of prior to converting.
