Thumbs up

Need some help on this one. I installed 19" M5 166 wheels on my 2007 530i. I have been having a problem with a vibration coming mainly from the rear wheels. I've taken the car to two different places to have the wheels balanced and also the local BMW dealer. The dealership told me the wheels are made for the M5 and are not intended for use on the 530i. My question is, has anyone else experienced problems using M5 wheels on their 530i? The rear tire size is 285 35 ZR19. Should I be using a spacer or shim? I know there are many of you out there using these wheels. I very interested if any of you have had problems.

is it pure vibration or some sort of rubbing?
OEM 166 or replica? if it's OEM, then there's something wrong with the tire fitment (some sort of rubbing) or they didn't balance it right. if OEM, what's the offset for them?

if replica, you can check to see whether they need hub centric rings, or it could just be a bad quality wheel. can the shop get it to balance without any problems?

give us more info (stock, sport package, OEM vs. replica, offsets, etc) so the experts can help out.
however, the dealership is definitely wrong, the rims can be used on any 5, the tire fitment is another story between M5 and 530i...

Nope, no problem with mine. I wonder what causes the vibration. Good luck

The wheels are OEM 166. The tires are not rubbing. At 55-70 mph the vehicle almost bounces. I watched the tire mechanic balance each tire perfectly. I also had the tires nitrogen filled while I was there. I'm not sure where I can find the offset information. If you can tell me that would be great. The rims are true. I had the BMW dealer check to see if I had a bead wheel. I rotated the front tires to the rear and put the original tires on the front and the car still bounced at the same speeds.

The vehicle has the sports package on it. Thanks for the help.

Sorry to hear about your problem. No similar experience here. You can get the offset information @ RealOEM.com.

goodluck!

if they are OEM 166, then i won't be from missing a hub-centric ring. i still suspect it has to do with the balancing, since it vibrates a this speed which seems very common from improper balancing. did the shop use a hunter road force balance machine? i will complain to the shop and have them retry it (they should not charge you if you get your tires from them), since one would expect no vibration with a high quality OEM rims. if it still bad, i would try another shop. it also could be some tires defect... what size and brand is your tire. last thing i can think of is that the bolts aren't torque down correctly (highly unlikely though...)
don't think it's an offset issue, but you can check it with the part number at realoem.com
