Hello,

I know this is a 100x repeated question in this forum, but I wanted to clarify.
I just purchased OEM M166 wheel with tires.
The front tires are 255x40x19 and the rear 285x35x19.
I just wondered if I can use the rear as it is 285x35x19 and replace the front with 245x35x19. Will this work fine?
My car is 2006 530i with Sports pkg. No modification.
Please help. Thank you in advance.

Fronts with 245 will be fine. Rears with 285 may rub, especially if you decide to put spacers....

this thread should help...GL

Thank you for your reply. The link also shows two opposite opinions between 275 and 285 for the rear for rubbing.
BTW, Do I really need spacer in the rear with M166?

If you run M166's with ET28(M5) offset you can run 285/30-19 without rubbing. If you run M166's with ET17(M6) offset then there is a greater chance of rubbing and you would need to run 275/30-19. I would recommend the latter option of ET17 offset and 275/30-19's.

Ideally you should be running 245/35-19 fronts.

Thank you, DRANGED!!
I purchased the wheels from a 2007 M5. So I assume it has ET28 offset (yes, it is coming next week).
In this case, 285x35x19 will work okay for the rear? I am curious if I can use the tires coming with the wheels.
Later, I will post some pictures. Thank you again.

If they are OEM M5 takeoffs then you are correct the offset should be ET28 and the 285/30-19 should work in the rear with no rubbing.

I am not sure that 285/35-19 in the rear will work with out rubbing though...

BAD BAD BAD !!!!!!!!!!!! Don't over-do an already great thing. I JUST PUT these wheels and tires on yesterday. I'll post pics tonite after work so you can see. Its the M6 off-sets.

You need 245 / 35 / 19 for the fronts and 275 / 30 / 19 for the rear. If you plan to drop the car you better have those sizes or you're gonna rub one out faster than me on a Friday night.

Wow, did I just say that?

Mount one rim.tire and check for clearances. ET28 should fit a stock sport suspension, hell I squeezed that tire in on a et32 and sport springs..finger clearance was tight so I had people jump up and down on the trunk to see if it would rub and it didnt.

If you do go with the 285 you're acceleration will disappear and your speedo will be off by 10mph. Sell the 285's and get 275/30
