I have a 2006 530i in USA.

Just got rear ended. I may be able to get MTech rear apron/bumper instead at no extra cost.

I have no intention at this time of getting front apron because I use vehicle in snow.

Looks like 2007 5 Series is eliminating rear lower bumper flair like they did on new 7 Series.

What do you guys think?

What does using the vehicle in the snow have to do with anything? The only difference I can think of is that the M front bumper is lower than the stock one, so am I missing something? Is it harder to rinse salt off the M front bumper compared to the stock front bumper or something???

I don't think there's a facelift or any changes to the exterior for 2007. Where are you getting this info that they're eliminating the rear bumper flair from?

Had 2002 with M tech sport package. Riped off lower front apron in snow. Dealer had two similar come in day before mine with same damage. Have only one vehicle so I don't have ability to leave home in bad weather nor do I have the expert inclimate winter driving skills you have.

technicaly I see no problem. It is just how you going to get the paperwork done with the insurance company or dealer....
as to labour the cost is the same.... as to the parts I believe the cost is almost the same where you can always pay the little difference if any....
so really it just depends how you take care of the paperwork.....

or just tell the dealer or insurance guy that you had the Mtech rear already and it got damaged

I would definitely go with the M rear bumper. I put the kit on my car and it really gives it a great look and it separates the car from all the rest.
