I've found two 07 550i's for sale at local dealers that appear to have the M sport bumpers included. I can't seem to find anything to clarify if this was an option on all 07 5 series, or if this was installed aftermarket. Can someone please clarify if this was a factory option in some way, or if this was an aftermarket install? I'd like to know if I have a chance in heck to find an 07 530i with these bumpers for sale or if it was only an option on the 550i in that year.

The M Tech kit was not a factory option on the 2007 550 (it became standard on the 550i Sport oin 2008). So, I would think that this M Tech rear on the cars you are looking at was bought from the dealer or another source and installed. Many members here have pre LCI 550s and have installed the M Tech kit. You can buy and install a M Tech kit on any E60 to my knowledge -- not just the 550.

Interesting. Both of the 550i's were CPO, so I'm surprised that they would CPO a car with an aftermarket kit installed. I thought I had read somewhere that it wasn't a factory option but it was a dealer option or something but I'm probably wrong.

The M Tech kit is OEM BMW parts. Accordingly, BMW would not hesitate to CPO a car with an OEM M Tech kit. Dealers can and do install them (as well as anyone else).

There are also replica kits that are not made by BMW that look just like the M Tech kit. A number of trusted vendors on this board sell them.

My M tech kit was dealer ordered and was installed at the port in new jersey. That was one option available for this. The other was to order thru the dealer and have them paint and install. As it turned out the port did a horrible job painting mine and my dealer had to completely strip the clear coat and redo it.

Interesting, didn't realize they would have to paint them to match for each order.

Slightly off topic but anyone have a ballpark for purchasing and installing one of those kits, including painting (if necessary)?

that's not an OEM kit...and that's a rep M5 kit, not an M tech kit...

there are a few vendors here with great pricing for Kit + paint + shipping...

where are you located? Perhaps a member local to you can recc a shop for install as well, or depending on how handy you are there are a few good DIY's for this install yourself on this forum

the vendors you can purchase an OEM M-tech kit from here are:

Trinity AutoSport: https://5series.net/forums/index.php...opic=56845&hl=

EuroRev: https://5series.net/forums/index.php...opic=56814&hl=

Sonic MS: https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showto...79&hl=sonic

or you can buy an OEM unpainted Mtech kit from 2 members that work in BMW Dealership parts department, both offer 25% off to 5series.net members along with no state tax....

Garry Romani in RI: https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=18067

Frank Jershe in MN: https://5series.net/forums/index.php...opic=77108&hl=

If you want to purchase a Replica M5 kit, go with Trinity: https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=77071
