I just ordered a 535i w/ sport package (won't be ready until mid Oct) and was talking to the dealership about adding an M body kit. The price I was quoted was $3,450 for the kit and if I give them my 124 rims toward a set of 172Ms, I could get them for $1,450 for a grand total of $4,900 for the kit and rims. The U.S. dollar is pretty weak against the Euro and I'm currently in Europe (head back to the US next spring) and picking the car up at a German BMW dealership.
Looking for an idea of what I could expect to pay for these mods in the states. My thought is it may cost less stateside in which case I should just wait until I get back to order the kit and rims. Can anyone confirm?
Previous BMWs:
1978 320i, 1981 323i, 1983 320i, 1984 732i, 1994 325i (all German spec)

Track this post and see if calypsobimmer provides public information.

Also check with Quad_M (look in the classifieds for his M-Tech kit post).
The kit is not yet available from BMW in the States as far as I know. The only person I'm aware of that has been able to get an M-Tech kit for an '08 (outside of ordering a 550 ZSP, which comes with the M-Tech body kit) is calypsobimmer.

Thanks Lou. My wife likes the 535i w/ sports package just the way it comes from the factory so the M kit and wheel mods will have to wait for now. I'm just grateful I'm getting the 5er. We were looking at the 335 and I pushed for the 535 and got it. Probably best not to push my luck again!

I had thought the M Tech kit for pre-LCI and LCI cars are the same because it replaces the complete front and rear bumpers?
Anyway, the M Tech kit for the pre-LCI cars listed for $1690 or so but most of us were able to get it for less. I think the cheapest was about $1200. Then you factor in paint and installation which runs on average between $1K-$1.5K so I think $3,450 is a bit steep. I paid $1450 for my kit and $1100 for paint and install.

That's what I thought too but I just remembered that they revised the kidney grills on the LCI cars slightly to be more flushed with the front end so maybe that prevents the M Tech front bumper for a pre-LCI car to fit on an LCI car?? Just a guess.

I asked about the M-kit also at edbmw.com forum. Irv works for a dealer in Ill. I also assume you can order the kit from any dealer once they have the correct kit for the new 08 5 series.

You can order the aero kit as a PIO ( port installed option) when your car comes back from Europe. As of a week ago, the parts were still not available, but should be soon. The cost for the complete aero kit is approximately 3K installed and painted, they will not be able to save or ship your original parts, sorry !
