M-ASK About to Die? And What is the New CIC Called?
I recently purchased a 07 550i. Sometimes when I turn the car on, it will gong 2 times normally. Other times when I turn on the car either there is no gong sound (and screen is solid black) or there are a bunch of gongs, too many, and kinda a flickering/glitching on the screen.
So is it a safe bet my M-ASK unit is about to go out?
I would love to do the CIC retrofit sooner or later, but for now, I may just source another M-ASK unit and swap it in..
Also, does anyone know what the new computer is called? The one in the new 2-seies and 4-series? Is it still called a CIC? I noticed the maps and user interface is so much smoother on those
Thanks

How old is your battery? E60s are power hogs.
Here's the wiki for iDrive. I agree the new version (what ever you want to call it) is pretty awesome.
