It is an add-on to any e60, either purchased through the dealer or you can have it done at the VPC.

Yes. The cheapest way is to buy the kit after picking up your car and have a body shop do it for you. If you ask dealer do it for you, it still outsource the job to local bodyshop anyway.
However, if it's installed at VPC, your car would stay longer at VPC.

I ask because on the bmwusa website when you build a 525 and you go to the acessories section the m aero kit is not available, but it is for the 530 and the 550

I think that is just a web error - that section just lists the e60 accessories which are typically vehicle independent.

I ordered the m aero kit for my 550. i will have it put on at the VPC. The dealer charged me 4000 for it.

I took it just to have it done by the professionals. Could have saved som money but I want it done right.

Thanks

WOW! I understand you being cautious and wanting things to be done right but that's just outrageous. The kit can be bought for about $1300 so they essentially charged you $2700 for paint and install which is a big rip off. I had mine done through a specialty shop which does performance modifications for high end automobiles such as BMW and MB and they only charged me $1100.

Just because it's the VPC, doesn't mean you can't bargain the price down.

Having said all that...I'm sure your car will look sweet once everything's done....

Indeed, that VPC price is very high. I'm getting my M aero kit installed at my dealer on Monday. With the BMW CCA discount (just 10%), my total comes to $2700 (about 1500 for kit and 1200 for paint/install).

You are paying more than MSRP, which is $3,285 installed at the VPC. Invoice to your dealer is $2,461. My dealer is charging me $2,500 installed at the VPC essentially forgoing any markup. Now, if you got the spoiler too, then you are paying closer to MSRP, but still too much. The spoiler is $505 MSRP installed at the VPC.

Yeah $2700 is too much to pay for paint/installation. My local BMW dealer here in So Cal (Long Beach BMW) has their own body shop in the premises, and I believe they only do BMW cars. I'm not sure how much they charge, but will find out early next year when I purchase the kit. I'll get a quote from them. I'm hoping they give me a good deal since they did some work on my E46 before. And the body shop manager there is pretty cool.
