My Ride: 2008 550i M-sport carbon black metallic

Hey there!
Brand new to the forum. I just purchased a 2008 550i with M sport package. I got a really great price on it. It is totally stock. LOVE the car. I've had a 3 series in the past. But love the size and power of the 550.
My dream car has always been an M3 or M5, but the price has kept me away from them. So this is the as close as i could get.
This car does have the 19" wheels with the M logo on them.
Is it acceptable to drive around in a 550 with some M stripes on the grill, M floor mats, and an M license plate holder, if you are technically not driving an M series car? I'm not planning on buying an M5 badge and trying to fool anyone. I just love the M accents, and was wondering according to the enthusiasts, how much is too much? Not going for a poser look. Just want some classy inexpensive add ons or mods to customize my car.

Congrats on the purchase, you'll love the V8!
Love the thread, mainly because I stated in another one that I disliked the poser M5 look, especially on a base model 5er. I was called a "hater" for speaking my opinion.
I think the accents are OK (especially for a 550i) - I think some of them come stock anyway. I just cringe when I see fully modified 5er pretending to be an M5. As I stated before, I like when people add an M5 bumper here and there, mix and match it with other body modification and go for their own look - but it's totally different when you try to copy every single M5 part.
Reminds me of the family guy episode when Peter was pretending to be a "Cowboy-Astronaut-Millionaire" at his reunion.

IMO I think you're fine so long as you don't add on an "///M5" badge on the trunk

It's a 2008. Carbon Black Metallic, with 49k miles. No extended warranty. I paid $26,000 for it. M-sport package. Almost all options besides the cold weather and heads up display. From my research that's pretty much auction price. Clean title. It's an amazing car!

That's a great ride!
My '08 carbon black 550i has almost 100k miles on it now and still drives like it did when I bought it. If you want to make a subtle but noticeable difference to the appearance, add some spacers to the wheels. I added 18mm in the back and 5mm in the front, which improves the stance significantly IMO. And it will cost less than your floor mats!
Enjoy the car.

What up fellow desert dweller. I just bought the same exact car with a warranty transferred. Got a brand new transmition from chapman bmw (2yr unlimited miles $10k). Set for the next 50k mi at least.
One option that was kind of hard to find is fold down rear seats, both my bmws dont have it, had to compromise. Comfort access, L7 were a non negotiable.
First thing i did was gloss black the grill, and order black side markers. Side markers show age right away, and the gill looks so nice with the all black. check out my ebay angel eye upgrade review.
Thinking of powder coating the stock wheels, on the hunt for spacers as well.
