At some independent shops the BS price BMW is charging you ($748) includes the parts too. I don't think the labor is any more harder on the M5 than the non M5s??
I paid a total of $465 for parts (Eibach springs only), labor and alignment.

Ya them wanting you to pay for 8hrs of labour is ridiculous. Personally because it is a M5 I would want to do it at the dealer for warranty reasons usually they would give quote estimate time like its gonna take 8 hrs labour (under warranty) but since your paying cash cut it down to 2.5 to 3 hrs thats what they do for me at porsche and land rover when I got them both lowered but I dealt with the service manager direct and they just hooked me up.

ya thats pretty high but up here thats what most shops are trying to charge because they use a system that tells them how long it should take and then they go by that with their hourly rate
its BS and I hate it but its how it is in WA

250-400 is the right price on an M5. Just find a place you trust.

The primary difference between the M5 and non-M E60's is EDC control. That involves simply detaching an electrical connection from each strut. The rate which you were quoted is absurd, so shop around. I paid around $200 not including an alignment, and my options are very limited by comparison. If it's of any assistance, use this writeup form M5Board: link
