With the prevalence of the M-Kit (I?m starting to see a quite a few of them here in SoCal)?are you starting to consider ?different? kits just to keep your car a bit more unique vs the next guys?

Don?t get me wrong M-Kit looks great, is a good value and as an OEM piece has a lot going for it?it?s just that the game has changed a bit now that it is simply a dealer option and not nearly as rare as it was a year ago.

This subject was brought to my attention by my neighbor that now drives my old 545 (with M-Kit)?he said he spotted 3 M-Kits over the weekend on E60?s (two sedans, one wagon)

Great car, and nice use of water. I'm going to be different and stay stock looking. ~0{;^) Among other things, I prefer to have more than I advertise.

Ya I wish they kept it harder to get the M-Kit for a little longer.

I guess I'm lucky---I have not seen ANY in this area....that's one of the things I like---my car will be unique. I'm sure it will catch on but even when I was ordering from the dealer, they were aware of the kit but did not have first-hand experience on the installation etc.

The M thing is starting to get the attention of several magazine writers as well. There is such a proliferation of M this and M that, that the uniquness of the real M cars are being diluted - in their opinion. THis is far more evident in Europe, but as we see reported here it is in some of the more pupolated ares in NA as well. I am fortunate to live in a rural area where even the sighting of an E60 is rare, let alone an E63 or M car. There a M badges on BMW offered E60 varients that are not true M cars in Europe. Starting to see some of this concern spill over into the M car community as well as they see replicas as sold by BMW diluting the original intent of the M car and hurting the unique mystic of an M car coming from the brilliant minds of BMW M engineering. They have a point IMO, although I am not an M owner (yet). We all know BMW needs to grow and prosper to maintain the ability to produce such magnificent cars, but they will and are running off some of their staunchest and most loyal owners in hopes of gaining a new following.

I see tons of E60s everyday in NYC, but have yet to see one with the M kit.

I do think as well that M kits will be a regional thing in NA. Onesey, twosey in some areas but others, like in car crazy So Cal or even Bay Area may be far more prolific. Other hot spots like Miami, Chicago, Detroit, etc could also take off on the M kits.
