I'm hoping to get the '08 535i someday and just having fun compiling a parts / to do lists for this new "project family car".

I'm ordering the car with the M-Technik aero kit. I like the M5 front bumper a little bit but I prefer the M-technik rear bumper over the M5.

My questions are these:

1. If I end up running the M5 front bumper and keeping the stock front fenders..
- how much modification on the fenders are required to make it line up with the m5 bumper
- anyone done this before.. pics and/or links is appreciated.

2. I understand that the M5 have wider front fenders than the non-M E60s. Anyone know how much wider?

3. If I end up having to replace the stock fenders to the M5 fenders, can I still use my M-technik sidekirts? Will it line up with the M5 front bumper?

4. As far as the sideskirts, are there any differences between the M-Technik sides vs the M5 sides?

5. I'm also looking into 20" wheels. What is the widest wheels you guys have seen that was fitted in a non-M E60.

All and any info is much appreciated

I know of two people who successfully did this mod. PM my530i and Busta. BTW, Busta's in Socal.

10mm wider front fender per side. That's why the M5 can accommodate 255/40/19 tires with the 166 wheels whereas regular e60s can only use 245/35/19 tires with the 166 wheels.

3. If I end up having to replace the stock fenders to the M5 fenders, can I still use my M-technik sidekirts? Will it line up with the M5 front bumper?
Yes. The M-tech sideskirts will fit just fine with or without M5 front fenders.

4. As far as the sideskirts, are there any differences between the M-Technik sides vs the M5 sides?
They are the exact same part.

5. I'm also looking into 20" wheels. What is the widest wheels you guys have seen that was fitted in a non-M E60.

I think 10x20 is the widest. I don't know if anyone is running any 10.5 or greater.

ahh, thanks for answering all of my questions.

Regarding how much tire we can fit in our non-M E60, being that the M5s are wider in the front, how about the rear? I understand that the M5 rear bumper just bolts directly but can we fit wider tires/wheels on the rear as much as what the M5s can?

hope that makes sense

Depends on the wheel. I know that member poleposition has 295s in the rear on his 530i.

20x10.5 has been done with 295 25 and in fact I think someone online has a 20x11 setup

Just because you bolt on a rear m5 bumper doesnt mean your getting more clearance inside your wheel wells.

Thanks for clearing that up, xexyus. Damn, 20x11 is really wide. :o

I am aware of this as it is the same with E36 M3 and non-M E36s (which I am more familiar with). E36 M3 rear bumper are interchangeable with non-M but their rear-end assembly is completely different to accommodate more tire.

I actually rather keep the M-technik rear bumper. With the Hamman diffuser, I feel that it looks better. My concerns is just how much tire and wheel width we can fit.

Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it
