Can anyone tell me if the door speakers and the (larger) rear shelf speakers in the Logic 7 system are the same? They all appear to be midrange. Are the part numbers different? Any insight would be appreciated.

Door speakers, the speakers on the rear shelf and the center speaker are all the same.

All the speakers in the p7 setup have the same part number and are the same in size/power. You cannot install these speakers on a non-p7 setup. I am looking in upgrading my Hi-Fi system (option SA676)into the top Hi-Fi p7 setup.

I don't need much... )))

I need to change all the speakers + tweeters, change the subs underneath the seats, add the center speaker, add two speakers in the rear door panels, swap out the amp... I'll get around to it someday.. still looking for a great deal on the whole setup.

Actually, minor correction... According to someone at BSW, the center channel speaker is different. Not sure if the center speaker and the center channel are the same thing.

The center speaker is not different at all, trust me. All the mid-range speakers on the top hi-fi setup (prologic 7) have the same part number: 65139143121. As I said, I am going to do this upgrade in a short while.

Who says you cannon install L7 speakers on a non L6 set-up? the basic, hi-fi speakers and L7 speakers all have the same connections. I installed L7 mids and tweeters to my 2003 E60 and I have hi-fi tweeters in my 2006 E60, both cars had the basic 6 speaker set-up.

Not true, I have installed L7 speakers and L7 tweeters in my E60 that came with the 6 speaker setup and I have no issues.
Sure the sound won't be as nice until I add an extra amp but the difference it made is huge.
Blood is correct with his post above.

Interesting... BSW said it was different (Maybe THEIRS is different?) Anyway, they claim they don't sell the rear shelf speakers separate. You have to buy their Stage I Audio Upgrade in order to get the rear speakers. So what you're telling me is that I can get two of their Center speakers, and have what I want?

I bought the BSW Stage I upgrade for my L7 two years ago, and I remember that all the speakers were the same type, but I can't remember if there was one speaker (center) without the plug + harness for the tweeter . However, even if it was, the plug is not a difficult job to add there.

Here's one pic of a typical Stage 1 speaker:
