Default Lightweight Rims Observation (Check out my car :)

Long story short, I wound up cracking my front driver side Rim (OEM Style 124 18 inches on a 545i Staggered Sports Suspension. I have a friend that used to manage a tire shop, and rather than replace the one wheel I took the opportunity to replace all four with the Beyern Spartan Wheel. I decided to go simply swap out for 18 inches again, figuring that the car’s suspension, right height, etc… were set up for 18 inches.

Aside from changing the look, the wheels are supposedly about 10 pounds lighter each than the stock rims. I’m quite shocked at how differently the car handles and feels from a driving perspective, the whole thing seems lighter and much more nimble. This may just be a placebo effect, or the fact that I had to have the spare on for over a week because of the Holidays, but I’m quite convinced my car is behaving differently.

I’m wondering if anyone else ever felt the same when they swapped their wheels out? If I had known this earlier, I probably would have swapped the stock rims out awhile ago.

Obligatory picture if you’re curious to what it looks like now, although I definitely need to stage a better shot, lol.

Lighter wheel is always better, your can doesn't haven't to work as hard because you have less rotating mass. Hence why forged rims are $$$ because of the weight savings + they are stronger

From what I understand the stock wheels were 32 pounds, where as the new wheels as 22 pounds. Again, maybe in my head, but it does feel like a big difference.

Every pound counts, that's why some enthusiasts really go the extreme for weight savings.

Yes lighter is better. Think of it this way it would be similar to you wearing combat boots then switching to tennis shoes. You'd find it easier to walk, move and it would feel lighter.

Havent found any concrete evidence but have read 1 lb unsprung weight savings equal as much as 10 lbs in sprung weight. it's why well construction lightweight wheels are expensie and high performance cars have them. Some will argue the advantage is marginal and isnt worth the huge difference in price.

Did you also change set of tires? That will add to the difference in feel.
