Hi all,
I posted this in the DIY forum but have not had a response, so I thought I'd ask here. For those that have installed a Lidatek laser jammer, where are you wiring into 12v switched power? Thanks and any other install tips would be appreciated

Do you want to hard wire it? If so, most of us (I happen to have the escort, but shouldn't matter) are wiring it up under the Garage Door openers and placing the detector near the rear view mirror...

The lidatek can only be hardwired and its not mounted like a radar detector, so I need a 12v connection somewhere under the driver's side of the dash. I have hardwired my Passport in the way you described...thanks.

This is not a concrete answer to your question, but it might steer you in the right direction. Let me know what you end up doing.

I have not hooked up my integrated unit in my BMW yet - I have been waiting to resolve a couple of warranty things and don't want the hassle.

However, I just finished my install on my Yukon this weekend (Belltronics integrated radar/laser) and I was thinking of doing the same wiring on my BMW.

I tapped off of a switched circuit from the fuse box to run a relay which is hardwired to 12v w/ a fuse. The relay takes minimal power and I used a low usage switched circut for the signal. This might be overkill as the detectors don't take alot of power (3-4 amps max if you have an external speaker), but the electronics are so complex on these cars, I did not want to run into any problems down the road.

Also, do you have a display with your unit? If so, where are you mounting it.

For the Belltronics, there is a display, but it is not required when having a dash LED, speaker and remote mute. I was thinking of putting the control unit under the dash unless I can find a clever place to mount it - which I have not as of yet.
