Folks,

Are these different to the Pre-LCI which uses the 5W5 12v 5w bulb. Looking to upgrade as per this Thread and when I've looked at my LCI Headlight (taken off the car), it appears I have 1 x 10w sidelight bulb on the outter Halo Ring - unlike shown throughout the thread in the link where there are 2x 5W5 12v 5w bulbs - one for each Halo?

Am I missing something here?

I have just been looking on RealOEM and it does appear that the LCI Halogen (non Xenon) Headlight does not incorporate the 2 x 5W5 12v 5w bulbs as are in the pre-LCI car. Instead there is a single 'Parking Light' Bulb / Holder that is 10W. This is fitted below the inner 'high-beam' Halogen H7 bulb. There doesn't seem to be one below the outer 'low-beam' Halogen H7 bulb - so presumably, the one fitted below the inner Halo somehow lights both?

I have physically removed the headlight and have come up with the above. Has anyone 'upgraded' this type of bulb and if so what type is required? I have got some of the 'Philips Blue Vision W5W 12v 5W' that are no good for this job. Unfortunately I cannot manage to remove the bulb holder for fear of breaking it as it is extremely tight to see what type of Bulb is fitted!

I thought LCI's used H8 bulbs like the E90's for the Halo's.

I'm sure Gene will chime in with all the DIY's and links since he is the exterior lighting LCI master, but in the meantime..

Angel Eye bulbs are H8

Cornering lights are H3

Fogs are H8 (unless you have mtech then probably 9006)

GP thunders work well for H8 and H3

Hoen for 9006

Takes like 5 minutes to replace.

Thanks guys for responses! So I need H8's? Just looked these up and they look like Halogen type bulbs - surely that's wrong....see Here. These are quoted at 35w, not 10w like the bulb holder I can see on the inner Halo.

How many should it have - one for each side or one per Halo like the pre-LCI? I can only see one however, on the inner Halo of each side.

For clarity, mine is an M-Sport and does have HB4 (9006) fogs - I've just upgraded them along with low & main beam H7's.

Do you have halogen or xenon headlamps?

the threads and info that fugs provided above is for xenon lamps...

halogens are different...

Guy's

Something strange here. My car is an LCI. The headlights are Halogen NOT Xenon upgrades. However, the links posted above look nothing like my headlights. The top of the lights (the part that sits under the bonnet when closed) looks completely different to mine.

Are the links and references to H8's / H3's for Halogen style lights? The High / Low Beam on mine are H7's, and there are no other bulbs at all contained within the headlight unit apart from a 10w bulb below the inner Halo - a real pig to get to with the headlight in the car - hence why I removed mine earlier today, which was quite easy really - wished I'd taken a few pictures now. This 10w bulb is what lights up when the 'side-lights' / 'parking lights' are switched on, so must be the Halo ring light. No other Halogen bulbs in there.

My car was built in April 07 and is one of the earlier LCI's. It is a UK car, presumably similar in spec to the rest of Europe?

That answers my question then! So, what type of bulbs do the Halogen style headlight Halo Rings require? They appear to be 10w (according to what I can see on the bulb holder), but not sure what type? The bulb holder is certainly very tight, I'm scared to remove it for fear of breaking the light!

order the set you originally found from member pinguhk...it will work for your lci halogen set-up...one bulb per side..
