Getting ready to do the LCI halogen retrofit and its probably a good idea to swap out the AE halogen bulb with some sort of LED but first the homework:
1. LCI halogens do not take H8 bulb for AE but H6W correct? 2. I have seen people hacking the H6W holder and attaching it to one of the H8 LED bulbs, is there a pdf/guide on how to cut it properly? 3. If I go down that route how about the plug itself from H6W to H8? Can the H8 LED be plugged straight into the H6W plug or some modification is required? 4. Would THIS type do it or is THIS better as it is 10W? 5. Does anyone have a link to a pair that is confirmed to work and not give any errors? |
Can't edit for some reason.
Is anyone selling the whole LCI halogen AE bulb/holder pre-moded with an LED? |
I just purchased these from a different seller. It seems most people use these bulbs. I tried a 10W bulb and it wasnt so bright.
About the bulb holders...just buy some and cut them...not really too hard... It would be great if we could find some holders in plastic tho... |
Came across those myself, do you have them installed yet? Photos? They throw errors?
|
Don't think they throw errors...Haven't installed em yet cause they're in the mail...maybe sometime this or next weekend ill do so.

Cool.
Did you find a guide somewhere on here on how to cut the housing properly? No luck so far, still searching. |
nah...just saw a few pictures...you want to leave about an 1.5 inches from the big end...just enough for the led to fit through...then glue that to the plastic base that comes with the led...pretty simple really...you need something with a decent sized blade to cut that metal straight though

Got my "hacksaw" and resin ready :D
I am still unsure about the connection, the plug that is. The one you linked above is a H8 fittment? Will the plug from that match the H6W type on the LCI halogen lamp? Or that needs to be modified also? |
