LCI 535d remapped
#1
Had it done today, I'm very impressive !
Talked a little about the potential of BMW diesel with chip tuner
Yes, quite potential for 535d but the DPF is very much restrictive there
we can easily and surely give you more power then the heat will degrade your turbo and engine.
They're developing sport DPF to solve this constraint and will update me once it works.

Enjoy what you've now ! don't care about commercial numbers 340,350,360,370... ps whatever
DPF is a bottleneck for having more boost on the car , if the tuner insist doing so for magic HP numbers
The heat sink is then a serious side effect come along.

not quite getting you there, so have a remap can have degrading effect on the turbo?
is that right, what can be done to avoid this?
is it too late for me?

In petrol engine tuning, you can add boost, fueling, enhance cooling to the engine
Second, you need to release the back pressure from headers, down pipe and the critical "cats" , in a diesel engine, we have the DPF.
As long as the DPF stand there , there's no way to extra boost the car for power.

you hardly have to increase the boost on a diesel re-map. Mainly is increased on a diesel map to keep the soot at bay.

What's the probably tricks they might do on a chip ? Fueling, timing, throttle valve cheating ?
I saw DTC flash when pushing hard in 1st , 2nd gear , guess 0~100 kph sprint is improved.
Drive gentle, there's also a push right after 1200 rpm which was a lag before remap.

Firstly because you have more power and secondly, because on the 535d the re-map makes the traction control somehow more sensitive, so it will trigger a fair bit quicker. The tuners can not access the traction control module, so can't change that. (at least that's what 2 tuners told me)
If it get's too intrusive, just switch it off.
