Jlevis LED License Plate + Resistors

My Ride: Silver/Grey E60
Hey Team..
So i got some nice LED's from Trinity and they were giving me an error message.
After doing some searching on this site I found out that resistors from Radio Shack might do the trick. So today I got 50 ohm/10 Watt/10% resistors and it WORKED (only 2 bucks!) . So far no error message.
My question is.. the resistors got really really hot fast. Is that normal? Will it melt or damage anything?

have you contacted trinity regarding this? doubt they would sell you something that would give off error messages without telling you how to fix it....GL

Joe sent me a new pair of LEDs free of charge when the first set didn't work. He actually let me keep the new set after thoes gave me an error message AND he refunded my money. I spoke to Trinity several times on the phone as Joe tried to walk me through possible solutions. They are stand up guys over there! I wish everyone online company was as great as Trinity.
This resistor solution was just something I thought i'd try for 2 dollars.
Anyone have heat issues with these resistors? Did they cause problems or melt anything?

The resistors are supposed to heat up, but not get too hot. If you think it could melt plastic or burn wires, I would get a higher density resistor or maybe higher wattage.
Ok i dont know what too hot is... they got like too hot to touch almost when they were on for a few seconds. Thats the resistance others on here have used. Would it hurt if i went up in wattage?

We don't recommend installing resistors in the trunk lid area because of the heat issue. It is such a small area that it is hard to run resistors safely without risking melting problems.

I would think that almost no one does get an error message... My car is moody!
The guys at Trinity told me they haven't really had anyone else get error messages so it must be my car.
Others have put these resistors in the trunk. Can anyone who has them installed chime in with their thoughts please.. TIA
