Went to shop yesterday who advised best upgrade I could do for instant improvement would be double 12" subwoofers. So I had them install and ended up with JL Audio 12wx4 along with SSL EV3000D EVOLUTION 3000W Class D Monoblock Amplifier. Initially all sounded ok, but one playing different tracks along with radio the sound isn't as good as I thought.

Some songs there doesn't seem to be bass at the correct times then all of a sudden loud bass kicks in, which simply doesn't match the volume of my stereo. Also some songs the base just sounds like rumbling and not base in line with the song being played.

Obviosuly I'm going to go back to the shop but thought it was best to get some other opinions before I get there. I was also thinking possibly the amp hasn't been configured correctly, I had a quick look but much more complicated than my alpine amp I had some time back in a different car.

I know 5 series (E60) have good sound deadening from the boot but this is why I was advised to get the double JL setup, but at present it just ain't cutting it for me. My JBL 250rms in my Peugeot beats this current setup hands down.

what kind of enclosure are the subs in?

Sounds like an issue with the amp or not getting a good signal from the OEM audio system into the amp.

BTW, at 3000W you are SERIOUSLY overdriving those JLs. I've been using JLs for over 15 years now, and the one thing that's always been nice about them is that you can get a lot of sound from them without throwing a ton of power into them.
