ooh, i found race gas out here in the boonies. i was driving home from west palm and saw the purple pump at a descolate sunoco. i pulled in to check it out, but it was like $7.60 a gallon. i thought about adding a few gallons to my half tank of 93, dont know if it would have an effect on the stock setup.

Should you be mixing different octane gas?

just curious, it seems that jb3 will give you another 100hp or so and
I am wondering if that much of boost in power(30% more power)
would affect in long term. I am no engineer, but my common sense
tells me with about 30% more power, wouldn't it at the minimum
to get larger intercooler, bigger engine oil capacity, oil cooler etc?
Also this much of boost will significantly stress the engine as well as
a lot more wear and tear. This engine is relatively young at this stage,
so I do not think there would be any problems but I just can't help but thinking
that just the jb3 without any other "cooling" modification at least, be running
reliable after 70k miles never mind internal modifications. Is everybody planning
to dump the car once the warranty expires and/or is being leased and planning
to return upon lease expires?
I don't think the BMW engineers designed the internal engine parts to withstand
30% extra boost for majority of an engine life span.
I am not bashing nor have intentions. Just my limited education could not figure this out.
To me, the internal work, and the cooling modification is inevitable if you want to
run your engine to last long.

can anybody answer to my question above?
I've waited couple days for the replies, but no one seems to bother.

Anyway, this totally blew my mind the other night.

^^ All his vids just seem unreal. Obviously, he has a bit more than just a JB3, but an exhaust and those two other mods really have it beating M5s and Camaro SS's? I hope my 535 can do something similar if I tossed racing fuel in it as well.

cant say for sure, and it is hard to determine long term effects because the N54 is fairly young. i have been told that the car is made to withstand far more boost then the stock 4 psi or so
Anyway, it's true that stock engines are tuned to less potential FOR RELIABILITY purpose. Make sure to last long(200k+).
That's why with bolt ons, engine mapping etc is perfectly fine because it's a minor increase in power.
However, JB3/dinan/whatever other mapping is not. It's a very significant of power increase. It's 33% more power than stock(if you go by under rated number bmw published).
Dinan mentioned that in order to qualify the warranty, 335 must equipped with a factory oil cooler and not all 335s are equipped from
the factory. Hmmmmm.
Factory turbo cars can be tune to very fast. Sti's, evo's etc can be a monster. But, they don't just increase the boost.
They do a proper tune, meaning upgrade other parts to withstand the increase in power. So stock turbo cars are not as cheap
as people seem to think.
It's very tempting that you can increase the power so much under $1000
But I remember people saying hp doesn't come cheap.
