iPod Problem
#1
I recently had the BMW/Apple iPod adaptor installed in my 2004 E60. It works as advertised excpet that it will not play the music I have purchased and downloaded from the iTunes Store. Everything I have ripped from my CDs plays just fine. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Just guessing but maybe the software update done as part of install did not take correctly. I had the iPod adaptor on my '04 545 and it played both ripped songs from my CDs and downloads from iTunes with no problem.

bmw software does not play apple aac format from itunes. If you buy a song then buy it and save it in itunes in mp3 format and then you will be fine.

All the ripped tunes are AAC as well. Nothing is encoded as MP3. The only difference I can see in the properties is that the downloaded tunes are "protected AAC". I have also asked this question of Apple.

That's what I thought, though I have never really looked into the distinction between "protected" and non-protected ACC. All I know is both ripped songs from my CDs and the songs I bought from iTunes work just fine in both my old 545 with the iPod adaptor in the glove box and in mt new 550 with iPod/USB option in the center console...
sorry for the mix up
