Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and I need some help. I just bought a used 2004 530i with 6 disc changer about 2 months ago here in the US. I want to install the Ipod Interface ( 65 11 0 403 651) on my car but the service guys at my bmw said that my production year was 1 month off. My production date is Aug 2003 and the Aftersales Business Developement & Marketing bulletin stated the retrofit is availible for date 9/2003 and up.

Will it still work on my car?
Has anyone tried it on a pre 9/2003 production model?
If I can't do the retrofit, any ideas why?

Firstly, welcome to E60 Forums.

The brochures do indeed say 9/03 production forward but I am at a loss to explain why 08/03 production won't. I don't believe there were any changes to CCC of M Ask in the first month of production.

I would give it a shot by enabling mp3 in the car via software update and swapping out the ipod for the 6 disc changer.

Installed the Ipod interface last week and it did not work.

Today I got the Progman upgraded and it's working like a charm. Thanks E60 Forum, this forum is great.

Depends on the market you are in.

Expect to pay ca. $300 plus at least 1 h of installation, could be more.

If you are in BMW of NA territory, and your car is under warranty, then you will be covered by warranty for the Progman upgrades you will need. Otherwise, you will have to pay for these.
