My Ride: 04' 545i SMG , Oriental Blue, Congiac Leather Interior, Nav., Park Assist, Logic 7, Sports Pkg, Cross drilled slotted rotors, ceramic pads, SS Brake lines, free flow air filter and a supercharger (coming soon)etc.....all the good stuff

I would like to know if I could remove my CD payer and replace with an ipod interface system, without going back to the dealer for any computer reset.

And can it be done if I get teh interface and do it myself.

Thanks

I guess you still have to go to dealer. I can tell my car needed reprogramming when I was changing the cd changer to iPod.

Likely, yes. But some with fairly recent software updates have been able to plug in the iPod Interface and have it work with going to the dealer. Worth a try, buy the part, swap out your 6-disc changer and see if the iDrive picks up the iPod...

not really if you cd player plays MP3 then you did not need to reprogram (your player not your changer)

can't you just add aux. input installed and keep both cd changer and ipod?
i would think that would be cheaper option and more flexiblity too.

Ok, so I dont' have the mp3 upgrade on my factory logic7, so if I remove the cd changer, and replace with ipod interface, the car has to go to the dealer for an upgrade.

If I chose to go with an aux input, I go with dension 500? Does this work or get installed the same whay the ipod interface gets installed?
