I've been searching around for a good integration kit for my ipod to hook up and display all the artist/track info and work with the idrive. I found this thread http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...pod+integration and it shows the kit's features and from what I can tell is one of the better if not the best kits out there. I'm just not sure if this is something I would have to go to the dealer to get put in or not. Or if there is another kit that would be better. My car does not have the disc changer in it, just the single cd player. It plays my mp3 cd's though and from what I've read so far I believe that if it can play mp3's I should be able to put in the ipod kit without a spendy trip to the dealer. Is this the kit to get? Do I need to go to the dealer to get my ipod to work with my HU? Any help is appreciated.

No one knows about this? Looks like I may be taking a trip down to the dealer. My only fear with doing that is that I'm going to have to deal with some knob that is going to try and and talk me into letting them do it when I don't need to.

You might want to do a little more searching of the posts. I'm pretty sure I saw someone install the ipod kit themselves after they had the MP3 update and didn't need any further dealer involvement. If I could remember where it was I'd post the link. You could always do the physical install and if you still need the dealer to switch it on you've at least taken care of a couple of hours of labour.

That would be perfect. I'm not in a big hurry, just reviewing my options at this point. I appreciate the feedback guys. Everything I've seen so far was just disc changers. Good to know that I may not need the dealer after all. Thanks.
