Thumbs up

I'm debating on whether or not to go for the iPod integration input vs. the regular Aux input. I thought the E60 couldn't integrate the iPod input but my dealer said he checked and it can be done. It's $250 for the Aux input vs. $400 for the iPod.

Has anyone gotten the iPod input? If so, was it worth it and does it work well? Any iDrive integration? It supposed to have connections to six playlists (one being the entire library) and accessible via steering wheel controls.

Thanks!

Here's the linky to the BMW iPod integration.

http://bmwipod.com/

It says it replaces the 6 disc CD changer - don't know if I want that...

Besides having problems with steering controls whereby I cannot change tracks I am satisfied with Aux Input install.

I didn't think that Ipod integration was available for 5 series yet. Is there new news?

This sounds strange. Can you provide any more details as to what the dealer is proposing to do?

I have been following the iPod/2005 5-series issue pretty closely and have come to the conclusion that no such beast exists. The electronics in the new 5s will not accept the currently available integration solutions (through BMW or 3rd parties). Items like the Neo, Monster iCruze or Ice-Link all have a higher cost and longer timeline for availability on current 5-series.

While $400 is a bit steep, it does sound about right for planned 3rd party solutions. There is nothing on the "official" BMW/iPod integration site.

I would love to know what you dealer is talking about. If it is real, I would like to know how to get in touch with your dealer.
