Finally got my Ipod installed. Had TrafficJamz in Encino do the hardwiring work (into the center console so that I can hide the Ipod and use it while driving). Then had Beverly Hills BMW update the software. It works great. So happy to have this working and working well.

Gee, thanks for the helpful response. Yes, when I said "update the software" what I really meant was "update the software with AUX". Thanks a bunch.

Make sure you remove both cap and resistors in the AUX line input. See my link in my signature.

It wasn't cheap. Traffic Jamz did all of the hardwiring work. I believe it was $450 total, including all parts and labor. The labor was expensive because I wanted the Ipod wired into the center console, and not into the glove box.

BMW charged me $130 to update the software so that "Aux" appeared on the Idrive. So a grand total of $580 do get it done, including all parts, labor and tax.

BMW wanted $550 to do all the work, but this was wired into the glove box only, so that's why I split the work between BMW of Bev Hills and Traffic Jamz. Talk to Alex at Traffic Jamz. They had an M5 in there last time I was in there, they were adding video to the car.
