Does anyone really know whether the 2005 e60 will be able to have the iPod connection that the other BMWs have? I was at the dealer yesterday and the salesman couldn't ell me but was going to check. I read another thread regarding the ability to play mp3s but I think this is a different issue. I am about to purchase a new 530 (Jet black/beige, prem., auto, nav, xenon) and want to know.

If you get the TV tuner then you will get an AV-in connection which you can use to connect your Ipod to, otherwise a crappy FM modulator will be the only option. I guess that a real Ipod connector is still some time away.

Thanks Johan. Not exactly what I wanted to hear. I just hope I can have it (whatever hardware is necessary to hardwire the ipod) installed after delivery, when it becomes available.

I just talked to the people at Dension USA Dension and he told me that they will probably have their fiber optic ipod kit available toward the end of 2004 or beginning of 2005. The thing is that if you use it, you won't be able to use your cd changer because it uses the wiring for the cd changer. He also said that they're working on a version that might be able to use along with the cd changer but thats going to take longer. I'm still eager to see if bmw will come out with their own that will hopefully work seemlessly. I guess we all still have to wait

g8r, you're welcome.

I talked to Dension as well some months ago since they listed an adapter for the E60 in their catalogue, after contacting them they told me that the adapter wasn't ready yet, nice to know that it will become available soon. Thanks for the heads-up.

Iceman posted a Aux Input BMW pdf that I gave to my dealer (THANKS ICEMAN!!!!). They had said first that the Aux is not available on 2005 E60s. I printed the file from Iceman while at the dealer, handed it to the Parts/Service guy and blew his mind. They had never seen the instruction/part number pdf for this add-in.

Search this board for this pdf in one of the Aux Input topics. Print it and hand it to your dealer. They will shit and then probably say okay they can order the part and install it.

I am getting my new 2005 530i soon. I told them I wont sign the contract until they install my Aux input for my iPod. Hopefully be done in the next 2-3 days.

I just found out today the official BMW ipod interface for the E60 will be delayed until
2006. Comes straight from the aftersales service department.

Those engineers in Munich are driving me nuts!
One day they will release a car and say the engine comes two years later...
