I'm not sure if this is a good lead or not (see below), but I'm going to chase it down. While it sounds promising, I'm suspicious that since they're asking if I have a 6-pin and 3-pin adapter in the trunk, that perhaps they're not aware that the '04 5-series CD changer is in the glove box and has the "not compatible with anything very fussy reprogram and cross your fingers" iDrive system -- assuming that they're suggesting that the Connector would be hooked in where the CD changer would be connected. I have replied to the email tonight and will call the phone number tomorrow to get details (like, where in the truck should I look? The only connector I'm aware of is the 12v power outlet). What's anyone's interpretation of the email from neocaraudio.com pasted below?

Thanks for your interest in our BMW iPod Car Connector. Compatibility with
our product is dependant on if you have the Premium Harmon Kardon sound
package (DSP) or the Business CD radio in your BMW. We currently do not
support the HK premium sound (DSP), but our product works very well with
most Business CD radio. To ensure compatibility, look inside the trunk of
your BMW to see if you have a 6-pin and 3-pin connector - BMWs with these
two connectors will work with our product and the sound quality is great.
When connected your BMW will charge/power your iPod, will allow you to
control your iPod using your existing car stereo buttons (Previous/Next
track, FF/RW) and steering wheel controls (if available), and also allow
control with the iPod itself. This is a great iPod Car Kit. There is no FM
modulation, so you get full CD quality sound.
The BMW iPod Car Connector is a special order product and is not currently
listed on our webpage. To order you will need to call us directly at
(800)505-0931. The price on the BMW iPod Car Kit is $219.00 + shipping.
Please feel free to let me know if you have additional questions - I look
forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks,
Catherine

That adapter does not work on an E60, simple as that.
It seems to me thay don't have much knowledge about the different BMW models.

I think you're right, Flavio. They thought that it's plug-and-play like older BMW, but there is i-drive needs to be programmed to be able to change track using buttons on steering wheel.

Yeah i doubt it will be compatible for E60. Probably it will for the other model that is without I drive.

It's definately for old generation BMW's. The quote that says look for a 3 and 6 pins connector in the trunk (CD Changer) refers definately to an I-bus connection which is no longer used by the new 5 Series (which uses the MOST bus).
