Yes you do have to upgrade the CIP for the iPod adaptor to be recognized. You don't need any other additional interface than what is supplied.

As for the price of the installation, get a guarantee from the service manager or something so that you're not surprised with a higher bill.

Now I'm totally confused, I just made an appointment with service to have an ipod aux input installed. I asked the SA the price of the purchase and installation and was quoted $350.00 Now I have the regular 1 CD radio in my 05 525i, what exactly extra will I need to get this working.

1. Do I have to pay for the upgrade CIP to get the ipod recognized???

2. Is there an additional interface I have to purchase???

Could someone please clarify, I'm thinking all I'm going to pay is $350.00, I don't want to be surprised with a $750.00 plus bill.

Thanks Gents.
Well Don't pay that!!! It's an hour labor PERIOD. Don't let them tell you anything else. I'll try and show you the document via attachment. I'm gonna pay 375 for the iPOD adapter!!! I paid 185.87 for the AUX input BECAUSE of this site and the document. I didn't have to show them the doc, they just took my word for it. You may not be as fortunate. I got them to agree to the installation of the iPOD Adapter.currently being billed at 500-600 bucks for 375 PERIOD becuase I told them the doc showed the installation in ONLY..075HR..IF you have the wiring for the CD changer.called "CD Prep". You can get the dealer to look it up via your VIN. SOOOOOOOOO AUX at 350.00.NO!! iPOD adapter at 375-425....YES!!!!! Hope this helps.

Sorry about all of the files, I tried to delete 2 of the iPOD Adapter files, they are all the same. I just added the AUX input file. Print them out and take them with you OR email them to your SA as I did to back up my info.

Just remembered, You should get the parts from Garry at Newport that will save you 20% and that's what I'm gonna do for the iPOD adapter. Too late for the Aux Input.

Thanks guys for all the input, I hope the dealer doesn't try to give me the "old flim flam" I will make sure of the price before I let them start the job. Again I thank you.

Today I finally installed my Ipod adapter. Parts and labour were around 500 EUR.
I have tried it quickly on the way home and it shows now under CD menu CD1-CD6 options. With 16 GB of music onto 80GB it takes a minute to load the list of all singers. Scroll speed is moderate, and song starts to play immediately after confirm.
The best thing is the sound quality, and high frequency irritating noises through AUX when on pause are gone.

Hello,

Just a question...
Does there any limit of the number of files what you can handle whith I-drive? Or you see the same menu like on the Ipod?

Greetings
Daniel
(sorry for my bad english..)
