sorry guys, I think that FM is just not enough regarding the quality.

i think the good fm unit work well. the key is to find a clear station to use. you therefore need a variable frequeny unit. i've used the belkin and have been pleased. ipods because of the reductions in file size vs cd dont give you full filidey. cars are also the poorest chamber in which to make music sound quility espically while moving. try one and if you dont like it take it back.

Same here. I have an FM transmitter, the quality sucks.
I have to put the transmitter and the iPod in the rear seat to get better sound.

My Ride: 2006 525i, Silver Metallic, Black Leather, Automatic, Premium, Cold Weather, Xenons.
I have the Kensington Charger/FM Transmitter for my iPod. It works great. There is absolutly no static and the sound quality is just like listening to the radio. Which is fine for me. Another great thing is that it charges the iPod while I drive. The Kensington transmitter uses some kind of proprietary technology that allows for a clearer signal from it then other transmitters. You still have to find an empty station though.

I have a monster transmitter and it works very well, it has 8 or 10 stations to choose from and it charges the i Pod as well. Sound quality is about the same as listening too the radio.

I haven't been able to use it probably other then when I'm inside a underground parking lot or tunnel, the problem is once I hit the road, I never manage to find a blank FM channel without any interference to use the device probably :'(

I have nothing but good things to say about the Monster FM transmitter. It works great. I live in San Diego, but often drive to and through LA, and the Monster transmitter works great even in LA's crowded spectrum - very little interference on the proper channel.

The brand is called Scosche. It can be purchased off their web site as well and does run around 17$.

Like I mentioned, the audio out plug works best. The docking port model (with charger) uses a fixed output level which just doesn't cut it. The audio output unit works on most anything and does give the variable output level (at least on Ipod).
I wasted 40$ on the Belkin model. Figured I had nothing to lose with Scosche model. I was really impressed with it. Remember it is the automobile section by the radios and such.
