Intake

I am somewhat surprised that I can't find many topics on this forum
regarding intakes.
For those of you who are modded (and have a 535i) do you have an intake?
How do they sound?
I know that Burger tuning makes one, but can't find any independent reviews
of it.
Also, if you do have an intake.....did you lose a bit of power down in the low
RPM range and gain it back up top?
Correct me if I'm wrong.....but for the 535i cars, the first couple of mods
you should do is to open up the intake and exhaust to create more efficient
airflow? Of which won't result in a massive power gain, but will be noticeable?

for an intake, most recommended setup is the RPI ram air scoop with an aftermarket filter, either BMC or K&N. then removal of the charcoal filter.

Why won't a short ram air intake (or CAI) work on these cars?
Is there some engineering flaw in the engine bay that negates any gains from aftermarket intakes?
I'm coming from the Honda world where the first mod anyone does is to put on an intake.
And my understanding of the RAM air intake is that it only really shows gains above 70mph?

Wow, you weren't kidding about the price.
Although it does look more than the cheap
air intakes you would expect to find on fleabay.
Looks like some serious thought went into
creating this setup.
Wonder if anyone with a 535i has used one....

I have been very close to pulling the trigger on the K&N for a while now.

Does this setup allow more dust or sand into the engine?

***the dyno's performed with the AFE CAI that showed HP loss were with an NA engine/non-TT...would there be a different result with a N54/TT engine

Looking at the dyno charts.....am I reading this wrong?
Max power isn't created until much after 100mph?
And what does the third (top) line represent?
First two are baseline stock run, then run with intake installed.
