The whistling was getting a little annoying so I bought a 38" Thule wind fairing to redirect air flow. BMW doesn't make one for our OEM rack so I had to do a little jerry rigging to get it to work, but it turned out well. Virtually no more sound and absolutely no more whistling. Just wanted to throw this option out there who haven't found a solution to not having a fairing for the OEM rack.

BTW the next size up was a 44" fairing so I had to go with this one. Sorry about the iphone pics, If you want more detailed shots I can send the via PM
