I think I have the similar idrive knob resistance problem when scrolling on my may 05 built 545. The problem is only with MP3 songs on either the single CD drive or IPOD.

Scrolling between songs already displayed on the screen is fine, but scrolling to songs
above or below the screen requires some force (b/c of the resistance). Even so, it's not a clean scroll, it will jump like two songs up or down..

This problem is with both my CD drive and the ipod I recently installed. I tried Waiting for a minute for the system to finish loading but the scrolling problem is still there.. and my CD only has about 15 MP3 songs.

If anyone knows of a fix for this problem, please let me know..

Thanks much.
Chris
I think the guys above are right..it's the damn haptic feedback..no fix!

Hey Lospice1... I'm interested in a GW500... and I have several questions for you if you don't mind...

- Why did you choose this over the BMW Ipod interface?
- What are the advantages of the GW500?
- What kind of ipod are you using it with? (I have an iphone 3g and this may be the only option to charge it)
- How quickly does the contents of the ipod appear on the idrive once an ipod is connected? (since I'll be connecting my iphone to the connector and disconnecting it regularly, the load time is important to me)
- Where did you get it and how much did you pay?
- If you have links to the install instructions can you please provide them?

Thanks!

Hi VirtualRain,

I've recently installed GW500 and I can answer your questions as well.
1-2. GW500 have several advantages over bmw i-pod interface. To name few, no 255 artists/playlists limitations, faster, easier to update etc. In conjunction with BTA1500 you can also add bluetooth functionality to your car if you don't already have it.
3. I'm currently using it with 5th generation i-pod. When I connect my i-Phone 2G the phone goes into Airplane Mode and It can only be used as an i-Pod.
4. As soon as you connect it you will be able to browse. My ipod is loaded with about 30GB of music, and browsing is really fast.
5. In Cyprus, for GW500 and BTA1500 I paid ?500.
6. If you need more info have a look here.

Thanks... the airplane mode concerns me... I still need it's phone functions to work. Hopefully the 3G iphone works differently. Can anyone comment?

Any good places to buy in NA?

You get a USB and a better AUX-IN too with the Dension. You dont loose your CD Changer. You get a iPOD video pass through that you can then route to a screen.
