I did spring for the 18" Star Spoked Wheels but I'm not much of a fan of that boring flat finish they come in. Can anyone recommend a good chroming service, preferably in NY?

Please don't do it. No chrome on BMW's. Caddy yes, Mercedes ok...BMW no. Check out some of the amazing rims guys have here on their e60s. For the $$ it costs to chrome yours, you could put a good chunk of change towards 19" or 20" rims. Ultimately it's your your choice, just my .02. Congrats on the new BMW, great option choices, wish I had anthracite headliner. Welcome to the board.

I thought the rims on this car looked nice:

I guess I'm going to have to brush up a bit more on my BMW etiquette

Like I said, ultimately it's your decision. You have to like it that's what is important. I don't think they look bad, just not me. BMW doesn't offer a chrome wheel as an option and I think in itself that speaks volumes. I'm not opposed to a polished/chrome lip on a nice set sporty of rims. Use the "search" option on the forum and look up "rims", 19", 20". You'll see lots of options. Check out the gallery. Some people like chrome, some people don't. I like chrome just not on a BMW.

With or without the bagger?? Actually I just put a new carb on it under warranty so it is probably much improved.

I'm getting there I love my XLR but the thing has been in the shop more than I've had it on the road. Mostly stupid sensor-related issues but it was in for 18 days just for a check engine light! They replaced almost every sensor in the thing and still couldn't figure it out. I finally had to call GM and complain and then the next day I got it back. This was after having even more issues and having PAUL CONTE CADILLAC OF FREEPORT N.Y. BREAK MY WINDSHIELD AND LIE TO ME TO TRY AND STALL ME FOR 3 WEEKS WHILE THEY FIXED IT!!!! Sorry, had to vent

I've heard the BMW's don't have too many issues which, along with having always loved the way the 5 looks, is what finally made me give it a shot. I've always bought my cars but I decided to do a 30 month lease on the 535 and see how it goes. I tend to get bored with my cars after a while and change up every couple of years but I'm hoping this one will hold my interest... and if not, there's always the M5 when the lease is up

Speaking of chrome, if you're a chrome lover check this out:

Maybe a bit much but I've never seen this done before.
