So I was installing my new kidney grilles today and saw that behind the grille there is an opening where a Air-Ram could be installed. But in the same location on the other side there is the same vent but with a black cover piece over the vent. It is a factory BMW piece because it says BMW made in Germany but could I gain a few HP if I remove it? It is kept in place by a few pressure tabs. Or should I leave it there?

As for the driver's side opening, get an RPI scoop for it.
Check with Nerweezy or r1racer to order one

Leave it there, unless you have a Dinan intake (or something similar).

So how much buck are we looking at? I can't find any on ebay. If I buy one though I will get it from Nerweezy.
here's the trinity autosport site, e60 page...
https://www.trinityautosport.com/merchantma....php?cPath=1_20
click under "engine" for the scoops

Where I live it is hard to get up to 70mph. And I am looking for low speed HP increase, so I think the RPI scoop is not for me
