The only thing that sucks with ipod kit though is you can't used pandora or if you have radio apps on the iphone.

If you hate the sound quality of the fm transmitter you can do the mute overide thingy that was just discovered.

To help you guys out, this posting might help with the dock.

http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=74242

That's where I got the inspiration to do it and another forum member did the same.

You can use this dock and probably put any plug in there. =)

If anyone has any questions, ask away. We'll try to help as much as we can.

looks got and economical too.. but it depends in which area you live. I live in Bay Area California and we have a lot of FM stations around here.. so I bought an FM transmitter once for my e39 bimmer and it suck.. reception was awful, i had to return it., otherwise - if you have a good quality then it's a great mod. u can also charge the iphone at the same time..

Yea i live in calgary, alberta, canada so we dont have too many stations so you can normally find a decent setting.
I was using a belkin TuneBase FM with ClearScan and overall was a 8/10. I switched to a monster fm transmitter for the simple fact that it was corded and now its not as good...and it doesnt charge my iphone! So i think ill be switching to a ipod retro kit pretty soon
