Hi guys,

i decided to get me a quad exhaust for my 525xi like [topic="48625"]Bimmer32 and others did yet[/topic]. Now i went to my mechanic and he said i would have problems with the inspection (keuring) since you install non-BMW approved parts on your car.
Does somebody changed something at this car concerning the exhaust already or what are your experiences with it?

Help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

B

As long as you do not remove your stock Catalytic Converters (cats), your emission should not change. The only component in the exhaust stystem that traps the pollutants are the cat(s). The resonator and the muffler only helps to control the sound note and sound level . . . and all this stuff is AFTER the exhaust gas pass through the cats. While I haven't seen it done on any e60, others have acutally used cats as a muffler function in addition to their stock cats which results in cleaner than stock exhaust gas. and add more weight in the rear
