Recently I got a huge dent/scratch combo on my hood and went to get numerous quotes. One place said he could repair it for $650 while the other 3 places said they would replace the hood (respectively $1800, $2000, and one refused to fix it since he strives for perfection and would want a replace). I understand that fixing an aluminum hood is extremely hard and the chances of screwing up are high. I know that if I get it "repaired" there will be more filler than hood. I want to get a new hood since it will last longer and I don't have to worry about it cracking so I want some Opinions.

My Options are:

Repair ($650)
OEM Aluminum Hood ($1230)
Carbon Fiber Hood ($XXX) [Not sure best company or styles and I want REAL not fake]

*I Am leaning towards Carbon Fiber since it can be painted if I don't like, since I drive a Jet Black 530xi*

If I had to put a new hood on a black car, I would go with CF for sure.

Definitely replace - don't bother repairing. My 2 cents!
Maybe you can work out a deal with this guy and get it for a couple of hundred shipped? I found one for sale out of Austin.

Hood for sale in Austin Tx

Good luck.

Oh well - looks like same guy from CL has it listed on ebay for $499. I'm sure you could make an offer directly and not buy thru ebay?
You'll have to figure out the shipping details?

Here is the ebay link... Same hood on Ebay

If the guy doesn't work with shipping - you could get shipping company like fedex ground pick it up, as long as he promises to pack it up good. Another cheaper alternate is to get someone or even him to pack it and get it out to Greyhound. Their shipping quotes are relatively inexpensive.

Also someone on ebay has inquired about fitment on an 07. If you're serious you probably want to act fast.

To be honest I really don't want a used hood, sorry. I want something brand spanking new. Can anyone give some carbon fiber reviews?

Definitely go CF... No point replacing it with an OEM when the option is there to get the CF one. Seibon are one of the best out there for CF hoods/truks etc too... Can't go wrong!
